@GIJN publishes business tools for small newsrooms guide h/t @journalismnews PLUS Is Apple losing the app developer edge
Ch-ch-changes, and I am not talking about British politics. Many of the stories today talk about changes in the industry. Street Fight Mag, which looks at local media through the lens of the business, asks whether Apple is losing its edge with apps developers by ignoring their needs. I will have to ask my colleagues on Team Pugpig.
ICYMI, Nieman Lab looked at the growing gulf between generations of news consumers. They were looking at the Reuters Institute’s most recent digital news report, which found that younger news consumers were getting even harder to reach. I remember when the report came out that there was some concern amongst media commentators that journalism was forever losing young audiences. The study found that young people were more casual news consumers, relied more on social media and less loyal to news brands. I wonder about their brand awareness at all when it comes to news. Good reading and lots to chew over.
